Burlington Technical Center is offering the Garage Girls Auto Confidence for Women Series running May 9–June 6, taught in partnership with Rowley Wrench. This hands-on class series is designed to build confidence and practical skills for everyday drivers.

Topics include under-the-hood basics, fluid checks, replacing wipers and filters, emergency roadside skills, oil changes, and how to communicate with a mechanic. Rowley Wrench brings a welcoming, practical approach that helps participants feel comfortable asking questions and learning by doing.

Take one class or join the full series to build skills over time.

$65 per class
$275 for the full 5-class series (save $50)

Open Palette is a casual open studio session for adult artists of all disciplines. Bring your own projects and enjoy dedicated time to work, create and experiment in a shared creative space. This is a gathering designed to foster community, conversation and connection among artists.

This beginning sewing class will be taught by Putney Sewing Bee Maven, Melanie Fletcher and Costume Designer/Actor, Azalea Hudson - two of the friendliest and most seasoned seamstress we know! We will be focusing on making wonderful sampler books. This is great for students just starting out and you'll come away with a wonderful memento of your first stitches!

PALS for Life at UVAC is a FREE 16-week program for individuals affected by breast cancer, running May 5 – August 20. Based on the Physical Activity and Lymphedema (PAL) Study, the program uses research-backed exercise to help reduce the risk of lymphedema while improving strength, health, and quality of life. Participants receive a free UVAC membership during the program, expert-led sessions twice per week, access to land and aquatic fitness classes, and educational seminars on lymphedema and nutrition through Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Join us for an 8-class series taught by Technology for Tomorrow! Designed to help adult learners build advanced workplace-ready technology skills, BTC's Tier 2 Digital Literacy course is intended for learners who already have basic computer experience and are ready to strengthen their confidence using Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, cloud-based tools, and cross-platform navigation. Each 1.5-hour session provides hands-on, practical instruction using Google Drive, Docs, Gmail, Calendar, Sheets, and Slides, with clear connections to how these skills transfer to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

History lies in the depths of Lake Champlain, waiting to share its secrets and stories. In 2026, we’re opening up our vaults and taking a DEEP DIVE into the past with Museum experts, archaeologists, historians, and educators in our free evening conversation series!

Join us every other Wednesday from June through October for a free “Deep Dives” talk. Each evening will include an expert presentation and time for questions and conversation at the end.

Deep Dives is free to attend with registration. A complimentary drink from Shacksbury cider is included with your free registration.

The Beat Beneath Us opens the 2026 Burlington Discover Jazz Festival with a celebration of rhythm, movement, and Black creative power — placing the body itself at the center of the music.

The evening begins with Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE, A Dance Company, performing dances made in tribute to Max Roach, the iconic drummer, composer, and activist whose music reshaped jazz and whose artistic voice was deeply engaged with the civil rights movement. Drawing on Roach’s rhythmic innovation and political urgency, Brown’s choreography translates sound into movement — honoring Roach’s legacy through ensemble motion that is grounded, propulsive, and alive with history.

The second half of the evening features Savion Glover, Jason Moran, and Chris “Daddy” Dave coming together as equal partners in rhythm — tap, piano, and drums — creating a live, improvisational exchange where movement and music are inseparable. Glover brings a fiercely musical approach to tap, using his feet as both instrument and voice. Moran, a MacArthur Fellow and defining artistic voice of contemporary jazz, and Dave, one of the most influential drummers of the last two decades, meet him in a shared language of rhythm that is urgent, inventive, and deeply rooted in jazz tradition.

The result is an explosive opening reminding us that jazz is not only something we hear — it is something we see, feel, and experience through the moving body.

Ed Morgan is better known simply as “The Music Man.” For over 10 years he has delighted kids and grownups alike with his interactive blend of original & traditional children’s songs. Singing and dancing for kids ages 1-99!

Looking for a fun and educational activity for your littlest sailor? Join us on Fridays at 10:30 for Lake Champlain Maritime Museum’s weekly storytime!

Families with young children (recommended age 5 and younger) are invited to gather with a Museum educator in our historic summer camp building, the Roost, as we read some of our favorite stories about Lake Champlain and summer adventures on the water out loud for all to enjoy. Stories will be read as a group and there will also be coloring pages and crafts available afterwards.

Storytime meets every Friday from May 29–October 16. This program is free to attend with no registration required.

Take a self-guided tour when its spectacular rhododendrons are likely to be in bloom. Start your visit with a tour of Naulakha, where Rudyard Kipling wrote The Jungle Books and Captains Courageous (you can even sit at the desk!), then stay to enjoy the estate’s grounds at your leisure. Visit the newly rehabilitated Naulakha Stable, constructed for Kipling’s horses, Nip & Tuck, and now home to our newest overnight rental, along with the preserved historic stable and display on Kipling’s life in Vermont. Explore Kipling's Carriage House, former home of Kipling’s coachman, Matthew Howard, and his family as well. Wander the grounds to see the flowers in bloom and the clay tennis court located below Naulakha, likely among the first clay tennis courts built in Vermont. Bring a picnic and enjoy the incredible views from the sloping front lawn.
The Cocktail Party option returns this year as well, offering an even more exclusive and intimate experience of this special property on Friday evening. These special tickets include all the same access as daytime tickets with the addition of delicious hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktail, wine, and beer.

New England's Odd & Unusual Show is a Maine-based event, that aims to bring together the wonderful weirdos of New England. Our goal is to provide an open minded and welcoming environment for our community, that fosters creativity and authenticity. Ben Folds is an Emmy-nominated singer-songwriter who has created an enormous body of genre-bending music that includes pop albums with Ben Folds Five, multiple solo albums, a holiday album, and numerous collaborative records. He currently tours as a pop artist, while also performing for over two decades with some of the world’s greatest symphony orchestras.

Folds, who served for eight years as the first ever Artistic Advisor to the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, stepped down from his post when Donald Trump announced his takeover of the Center. On October 25 and 26, 2024, just days before the US presidential election, Folds recorded two sold out performances with the NSO which he released as a live album in July which debuted at the top of the Billboard classical and classical crossover charts.

A New York Times Best Selling author, Ben also creates new music for film, tv and theatre, with original new music he composed to be featured in an animated Peanuts special airing this summer on Apple TV.

In 2022, he launched a music education charitable initiative in his native state of North Carolina entitled “Keys For Kids,” which provides funds and keyboards to existing nonprofits that offer free or affordable piano lessons to school-age children from economically-disadvantaged households. For the past 15 years he has been an outspoken advocate for arts funding, music education and music therapy in the US as a member of Americans For The Arts and the Arts Action Fund.

The Montpelier Contra Dance happens every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Saturday at the Capital City Grange Hall. We dance to live music with contra dance bands and callers from around New England and beyond.
