Electric Violinist Tracy Silverman

Electric violin virtuoso Tracy Silverman has been lauded by some of the great names in 20th century music. With concertos written for him (and the 6-string electric violin of his own invention) by the likes of John Adams and Terry Riley, he is a pioneer in a field of ever-blurring genres.

The Orchestra Engagement Lab is a consortium of 10 orchestras from around the country who co-commissioned a concerto for Tracy by composer Kenji Bunch. The resulting work, based on the idea of a "flash mob," will be performed twice this weekend with the Montpelier Chamber Orchestra.

Tracy Silverman stops by the VPR Classical studios to talk about the project, and to perform some of his own work.

Listen on Wednesday, June 5th at 8:30am.
