Rob Hitzig: Planting Confusion, Sowing Doubt (Opening Reception)
The Vermont State Curator’s Office presents its first exhibition of 2026 at the Vermont Supreme Court Gallery with Montpelier artist Rob Hitzig, titled "Planting Confusion, Sowing Doubt." Hitzig creates two-dimensional large-scale wall sculptures which have taken a fresh direction from the artist’s previous work even though Hitzig’s love of geometry continues to ring throughout this exhibition. Artists often evolve as their art incorporates new and different processes and materials, and Hitzig continues to experiment with works for "Planting Confusion, Sowing Doubt" by utilizing OSB and MDO plywood, acrylic spray paint, shellac, gesso, and graphite, integrating new biomorphic forms into his geometric shapes that spin off into a new direction that is extremely compelling. When the viewer examines Hitzig’s craftsmanship closely, they discover his extraordinary eye for detail, born from his former life as a furniture maker. The integration of his brilliant paint colors, new shapes and materials, shines perfectly with each work of art.
This opening reception is free and open to the public, with food and drink served.
Exhibition dates: January 9 – March 27, 2026. Gallery hours: M-F, 8:00a.m. – 4:30p.m. daily (closed during the lunch hour).
