Classical Music Concert
We invite you to a special concert of classical music for trumpet, clarinet and organ. The concert is part of the Grace Church Music Series and showcases their historic Aeolian-Skinner organ. (Freewill Offerings will be accepted)
The program will feature :
* Fred Lemmons, retired from the United States Marine Band "The President's Own" after 21 years as clarinetist and Operations Chief.
* Doug Burian, member of the Marine Band for 28 years, originally joining as a trumpet player and currently serving as its Director of Operations. Dr. Burian is the Director of Music Ministries at Glenelg United Methodist Church (GUMC) in Glenelg, MD, where he leads a robust music program that includes four choral groups, instrumental ensembles and one of the area’s premier concert series.
* Alastair Stout, Director of Music Ministries at Grace Church. Dr. Stout is a prolific composer, featured on this program on the Aeolian-Skinner organ, piano and virginal. He will be joined by Diane Chartrand, Assistant Director of Music Ministries, on the John Rutter organ duet, "Variations on an Easter Theme."
Among the works on the program are: the Albinoni 'Trumpet Concerto in Bb' (trio for trumpet, clarinet and clavichord); Reger's 'Album Leaf' (clarinet and piano); Messiaen's 'Abyss of the Birds' (solo clarinet); John Rutter's 'Variations on an Easter Theme' (organ duet), concluding with Bizet's 'Caprice' (trio for trumpet, clarinet and organ).
