Tony Talbot

Allen Gilbert has announced that he will step down as executive director of the ACLU in Vermont. We're talking to him about the current state of civil liberties in the state.

Is there a need to protect the privacy of Vermonters as technological advances make it much easier to access personal, financial and medical information? How are the leaders of our state balancing issues of liberty and security? What other big civil liberties issues are still on the horizon?

We’re exploring these questions and more with Allen Gilbert - executive director of the Vermont chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union - who is stepping down after 12 years at the head of the organization.

Also on the program: Vermont Press Bureau chief Neal Goswami on the end of the legislative session.

Broadcast live on Friday, May 6, 2016, at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.

Bob Kinzel has been covering the Vermont Statehouse since 1981 — longer than any continuously serving member of the Legislature. With his wealth of institutional knowledge, he answers your questions on our series, "Ask Bob."
