A 37-year-old Vermont man's body has been recovered from a small pond after he went missing while swimming.
Vermont State Police say Alexander Jeldres of Plainfield was with a family member late Saturday afternoon when he disappeared while swimming across an unnamed pond in East Montpelier.
The Vermont State Police dive team searched the waters without success until dark Saturday. Jeldres' body was recovered at about 10 a.m. Sunday soon after search efforts resumed.
An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death. Foul play is not suspected.
