(Un)fractured

Joy, rage, grief and healing — those four pillars are all present every day for Black people in the eyes of Myra Flynn. But they're also the pillars of Homegoings, a way the Black community pays respects to those who have died.

What does it mean to be an ally? Depends on who you ask. In this installment of (Un)fractured, we have two panels lined up: one of white Vermonters who consider themselves allies and the other BIPOC Vermonters.

Intersectionality: how our individual identities -- like race, gender and sexuality -- intersect and inform the way we experience the world around us. In this conversation, we look at intersectionality through the lens of history, as well as the lived experiences of some Black, Indigenous and people of color living in Vermont.

May 25 marks the one year anniversary of the murder of George Floyd. Floyd’s death amplified calls for change, including how newsrooms cover protests and race. In this conversation -- the first of several -- we discuss how local media cover race and racial injustice, and what change community members would like to see moving forward.
