With hunting season in Vermont, comes the wild game suppers. These suppers, held across Vermont, can feature anything from moose to bear to squirrel.
How the featured meat is prepared varies, but all game suppers require that the meat be donated to the meal. Outside a very limited window, it is illegal in Vermont for game to be sold.
This year, the Hotel Vermont in Burlington will be hosting their first wild game supper.
“Their idea was to expose people in very urban Chittenden County, who might not have been to a wild game supper, to the diversity of meats that is sustainably harvest from the Vermont landscape,” said Candace Page, contributor to the Burlington Free Press’ Savorvore section.
The supper, called "Wild About Vermont" takes place on Nov. 7 at the Hotel Vermont, with help from both The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department and Lake Champlain International. Tickets are available here.
The VPR Café is made possible by Otter Creek Kitchenware in downtown Middlebury, offering over 70 lines of kitchenware.
