Groups of volunteers in over 100 towns have been educating and facilitating home owners and municipalities transition to small-scale renewable energy or to find ways to reduce energy consumption. It’s the work of Vermont’s town energy committees.
Johanna Miller of the Vermont Energy & Climate Action Network discusses what these committees have accomplished. We also hear from Brattleboro Town Energy Coordinator Paul Cameron, Weybridge Energy Committee Chair Fran Putnam, and Waterbury State Representative Rebecca Ellis.
Also on the program, the American chestnut tree has become functionally extinct. The American Chestnut Foundation is now developing a blight-resistant tree. Kendra Gurney of the ACF discusses these efforts.
Plus, we visit the recent Vermont Cheesemakers Festival at Shelburne Farms.
Broadcast live on Thursday, July 31 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
