Vermont Technical College faces a $2.5 million dollar budget deficit. Johnson state is short $1.5 million. Across the board, the state college system has seen declining or flat enrollment and an increase in tuition costs. State Colleges Chancellor Tim Donovan says part of the problem is that there is very little state funding. "We have made higher education more expensive than other states as a matter of public policy," Donovan says.
We'll talk to Tim Donovan about the challenges- and successes- of the State College system.
Also on the show, we'll get a preview of some acts to look out for at the upcoming Discover Jazz Festival in Burlington.
And we take a trip through the Brome Mississquoi Wine Route in Quebec.
