Lonely Near The Top? Lt. Gov. Scott

APAndy Duback

Fri 7/19/13 at Noon & 7PM  Lt. Gov. Phil Scott has become accustomed to his place as the sole Republican among the state's top office holders, and his moderate politics put him in a position to influence and work with Democratic leadership on major issues.

We talk with Scott about changes that might be attempted to transform Vermont's income tax system from one based on taxable income to one based on adjusted gross income. We also look at whether the state's health care exchange is moving too quickly and the whether the mandate to participate is too broad. And we ask him to reflect on the status of the Vermont Republican Party and how its priorities differ from the national party.

Post your questions for Lt. Gov. Scott below, or on Vermont Edition's Facebook page

Also in the program, political scientist Eric Davis examines the campaign finance reports that came out this week, and what they reveal about top incumbents who may run for office again next year.

And we listen back to some of the voices in this week's news.
