Hash Oil A Growing Problem In Vermont

Last week, the Winooski police shut down a clandestine drug lab in the heart of the city. But it wasn't a meth lab. The people in the apartment were allegedly making butane hash oil.

That's a very high concentration THC resin made from marijuana. And highly flammable butane gas is used in its production. But it's not actually illegal in Vermont to make butane hash oil.

Lieutenant Reg Trayah, commander of the Vermont State Police's Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement Team, explains the legal conundrum and why this kind of manufacturing operation can be so dangerous.
