The Mill River Union school board and principal Andy Pomeroy have negotiated a voluntary separation agreement to avoid what both sides say would be expensive and time consuming legal proceedings.
School board members voted unanimously this week to pay Pomeroy $20,000, which is slightly less than half of his remaining salary.
Pomeroy was put on administrative leave Jan. 15, after a complaint was lodged alleging misconduct.
The state police investigated, but no charges were filed.
Brian Marsicovetere, Pomeroy’s attorney, says his client still does not know who the accuser was or the specifics of the allegations made.
Pomeroy had already tendered his resignation last October for reportedly unrelated reasons, but had planned to work until the end of the school year. Deb Fishwick, longtime principal at the Shrewsbury Mountain School, has assumed the role of principal at Mill River Union.
Todd Finn, a principal now working in Hampton, Georgia, will take over as principal next fall.
