Vermont recently added nine species to the state’s threatened and endangered list: three different types of bumble bees, the Fowler’s Toad, the rusty blackbird and four plants. In total, Vermont lists 51 animals and 163 plants as threatened or endangered.
Vermont Edition spoke to Hillary Hoffmann, a professor in the Vermont Law School’s Environmental Law Center, about how the Endangered Species Act works and how Vermont's own threatened and endangered lists aim to protect species and their habitats.
