Dairy Insurance Sign-up Period Ends

The latest version of the federal Farm Bill created an insurance program for dairy farmers that takes milk prices and prevailing feed costs into account.

Over 700 of Vermont’s 874 dairy farmers made appointments to learn about the new insurance program. But Deputy Agriculture Secretary Diane Bothfeld told Vermont Edition that only 68 percent of the state’s dairy farmers signed up for the insurance.
