Middlebury College alum John McHenry had a shoebox in his home in California full of letters from his family dating back to the Civil War. He was looking for a better place to preserve them and gave them to his alma mater. He flew them to Vermont himself on the occasion of his college reunion. McHenry gave 85 documents, including about 80 letters to the college.
