Fifth Annual Spring Sprockets & Walk-Its fundraiser for the Homeless Prevention Center

Fifth Annual Spring Sprockets & Walk-Its fundraiser for the Homeless Prevention Center

Most days the Homeless Prevention Center focuses on getting people indoors. But on Saturday, May 2nd, that’s being flipped as the local nonprofit hosts their fifth annual Spring Sprockets & Walk-Its fun ride & walk at Pine Hill Park.

“Our annual fundraiser is a celebration of Spring, of getting back to outdoor activities we enjoy as a community, and of these great early season trails,” said Angus Chaney, Executive Director of HPC.

Spring Sprockets involves a scavenger hunt scramble for bikers and walkers on the trails at Pine Hill Park. It’s not a race and all ages and abilities are welcome.

2026 event sponsors include: Rutland Regional Medical Center, Engineering Services of Vermont, The Giancola Company, Vermont Country Store, Community Care Network, Green Mountain Power, VELCO and Oliver Subaru. Local Vermont businesses such as Mountain Music, Farm & Wilderness, Baird Farm, Green Mountain Bikes, Phoenix Books, Vermont Mountain Bike Association and Down Valley Bikes donate prizes for the trail scrambles.
“Once we help people secure a home, meet their emergency needs and settle in, there’s this other piece we try to support of reconnecting to community and joy. Life is more than just stably existing, right?” said Chaney.

This year’s Spring Sprockets & Walk-Its runs from 10 to noon. Registration opens at 9:30 outside the Giorgetti building. In addition to the riding and walking, expect thumping music from DJ Bill Moore, ice cream from Stewarts Shops and more.
