Bob & Sarah Amos Album Release Concert

Bob & Sarah Amos Album Release Concert

Catamount Arts Bluegrass Night continues its 2026 season with a very special Bob & Sarah Amos album release concert, Saturday, April 25th, at 7pm, at Catamount Arts, in St. Johnsbury.

Acclaimed Vermont father-daughter duo Bob & Sarah Amos are well known for their stellar recordings of original songs described by Robert Resnik, long time host of Vermont Public’s folk music show All The Traditions, as “Heavenly harmonies and glorious songwriting. Every song is toe-curlingly beautiful”. The duo’s recent album “Ever Onward” soared to the top of the FOLKDJ-L national radio chart, while the lead-off song “The Hills That I Call Home” reached #1 on the Folk Alliance International chart.

With the success of their original material, their new album “Two Of Us” – a collection of acoustic arrangements of Beatles songs – might seem an unusual departure. “I grew up listening to Beatles records,” Bob explains. “As a young kid, it was the first music that I fell in love with. As I teenager, I got into singer-songwriters and bluegrass, and soon took off in those directions, but that early connection with Beatles songs stuck with me.”

Sarah adds, “Because my Dad loved the Beatles, my brother Nate and I grew up with those songs as part of our childhood musical landscape. Some of those songs were the first ones we sang in harmony.”

Bob continues, “I remember us working out the three-part harmonies to ‘Nowhere Man’ when [Sarah] and Nate were in middle school. So we had to put that one on the album.”

The Beatles catalog is extensive, and with so many great, beloved classics, whittling them down to one album’s worth was a challenge. “We wanted to select songs from across the whole Beatles timeline,” Bob says. “There are so many great ones, but it really came down to ones that we could perform well as a duo. Certain songs just really work well for us.”

“There were some we tried out that just didn’t have that special spark,” Sarah adds, “while others felt great right from the start.”

The album has 14 songs in all, and when asked if they have particular favorite tracks on the project, Bob is circumspect. “I really love the way we sound singing harmony together on ‘If I Fell’ and ‘Blackbird’. And Sarah’s lead vocal on ‘I’ll Be Back’ is just stunning. But, then there’s ‘Fixing A Hole,’ and ‘Dear Prudence,’ which both came out sounding really cool. So, picking a favorite is impossible.”

“Exactly,” Sarah continues. “They are all kind of special. We included some really well known ones, like ‘Here Comes The Sun’, and ‘We Can Work It Out’, but there are also some deep cuts that diehard Beatles fans will enjoy, like ‘ I Don’t Want To Spoil The Party’ and ‘I’ll Be Back, which have creative musical interpretations that differ quite a bit from the original versions. It’s hard to choose a favorite cut, but if I had to, I guess it might be “Dear Prudence.”

“That’s a good choice,” Bob agrees.

Bob and Sarah sum up this new project as a loving tribute to the world’s most successful and creative band, “This little ‘artistic deviation’ has been a blast,” Bob says. “The hardest part was limiting it to just 14 songs. It really could have been a double album, but at some point we had to say ‘Ok, just stop!’”

Sarah laughs. “Yeah, it was originally supposed to be a 5 or 6 song EP, but with my Dad, I kind of knew that was never going to happen. It just kept growing!”

With this project completed, Bob and Sarah plan to get back to their core material soon. A new album, mostly of original songs, is in the works for 2027.

The Bob & Sarah Amos Band, including Andy Greene, Kirk Lord and Taylor Armerding, will present a special album release concert featuring material from their Beatles tribute album “Two of Us,” on Saturday April 25, at Catamount Arts, 115 Eastern Ave, St. Johnsbury, upstairs in the Music Hall. A reception will follow. Copies of the new album will be available. Learn more at www.catamountarts.org.
