Why has Vt. not sent a woman to Congress?

Live call-in discussion: Vermont is the only state to have never sent a woman to Congress. But that could be about to change. With Senator Patrick Leahy stepping aside, a seat will open up in Vermont’s congressional delegation next year. Why have only men represented Vermont on Capitol Hill? And which Vermont politician is going to rewrite this history? This hour, we pose those questions to an expert panel including former Governor Madeleine Kunin.

But first, Lieutenant Governor Molly Gray joins us to talk about why she is running for U.S. House. She’s the first person to throw her hat in the ring for what promises to be a competitive race.

Broadcast live on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
