Made Here

Vermont films profile Cabot and Proctorsville in the aftermath of 2023 floods

The Made Here season finale features two short documentaries, both about the Vermont floods of 2023.

Harry's

Harry's - One Vermont Community and the Flood of 2023

Seth Grant’s film Harry's — One Vermont Community and the Flood of 2023 introduces us to Harry's Hardware in the center of Cabot. The store and bar serves as a third place to gather at the heart of the town, and this is the story about the community coming together to rebuild after the flood.

Vermont Public's Erica Heilman visited Harry's in 2023, and spoke to Jina Alboreo, co-owner of Harry's Hardware. You can listen to that story here.

The Forgotten

The Forgotten

In The Forgotten, director Wendy Reynolds turned the camera towards her own small town of Proctorsville after the 2023 floods. Produced throughout the flood and its aftermath, the film showcases nine different stories from residents that lived through the yearlong ordeal.

In 2024, WCAX's Ike Bendavid interviewed filmmakers Wendy Reynolds and Stefan Beaumont about the project. You can watch that interview here.

Both Harry's and The Forgotten premiere on Vermont Public's PBS station at 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, and are available now on demand.

As Director of Programming Partnership, Eric works with individuals and organizations to make connections leading to more Vermont stories.
