Vermonters Connect To Nature Through Citizen Science

Wednesday marks the 50th annual Earth Day, and what better way to celebrate than with a (socially distanced) citizen science activity the whole family can enjoy? This hour, we learn about several nature-focused science initiatives across the state, including the Vermont Spring Backyard BioBlitzand Vermont eBird, and we also hear from you.

Our guests are:

  • Kent McFarland,Woodstock-based conservation biologist, photographer, writer, naturalist, co-founder of the Vermont Center for Ecostudies, and co-host of Outdoor Radio on VPR
  • Bryan Pfeiffer, Montpelier-based writer, biologist, and “boy explorer”

Jane Lindholm is the host, executive producer and creator of But Why: A Podcast For Curious Kids. In addition to her work on our international kids show, she produces special projects for Vermont Public. Until March 2021, she was host and editor of the award-winning Vermont Public program Vermont Edition.
Lydia worked for Vermont Public Radio and Vermont PBS from 2019 until 2022.
