Saturday at Randolph’s Chandler Center for the Arts will be the second — and final — staging of a play that tells the stories of LGBTQ Vermonters growing up in the state.
Playwright Maura Campbell interviewed queer Vermonters and turned their testimonies into a play called Standing In This Place: Growing Up LGBTQ in Rural Vermont.
Howdy Russell — a lifelong resident of Hinesburg — is among those who tells his own story on stage during the play.
He joins Vermont Edition to talk about what it’s been like to perform his own deeply personal story, how the play came together and what he's learned performing with a multi-generational cast of LGBTQ Vermonters.
