Heirloom Tomato Salad at Downtown Grocery in Ludlow.

Ludlow, Vermont, is a small town with a big ski resort and a vibrant culinary scene. Like many Vermonters who leave the state only to eventually return, some of Ludlow's restaurants are run by locals who moved away but then came back with cooking skills in tow.

From fine dining and cafe fare, to a breakfast nook and a bar/motel, Seven Daysfood contributor Melissa Pasanen explored the Ludlow food scene and gave us the 4-1-1. Listen to this podcast to hear her menu picks and cocktail choices, along with some background on the restaurant proprietors who returned home to Vermont to set up shop.

Read more about Pasanen's visit to Ludlow in the Seven Days article "Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner: Three Meals (And Two Drinks) In Ludlow."

This VPR Cafe episode originally aired on Sept. 28, 2018.
