Kids are growing up amidst the constant connectivity offered by smartphones and social media. We're talking about how parents, schools and young people themselves think about the technology in their lives and how they use it so that the benefits outweigh the risks.
We're talking to Jason Mittell, chair of the Film and Media Culture department at Middlebury College, and a parent of teens and preteens himself.
Also to Meghan Cope, a geographer at the University of Vermont. She's the co-author of the study: "Mobility, Communication, and Place: Navigating the Landscapes of Suburban U.S. Teens."
