We're talking about what Vermont is like for women in the technology industry.

In the midst of a national discussion about whether the tech industry is welcoming to women, we're plugging into the local community and asking what's top of mind for women in tech.

We'll talk about the state of the industry now, and what needs to change to get more women involved: from networking to mentoring to workplace culture.

We're joined by Alison Cossette, a senior analyst at Remedy Partners. Also by Julie Lerman, a longtime coder who shares her expertise by speaking at conferences and mentoring development teams around the world. And by Maureen McElaney, founder of the Burlington chapter of Girl Develop It and a Developer Advocate at IBM Cloud Data Sevices.

Find information on upcoming events our guests mentioned during the show at the links below:

Also on the program: Bill Ryerson of the Vermont-based Population Media Center on the Trump administration's decision to withhold funding from the United Nations Population Fund.

Broadcast live on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.

Jane Lindholm is the host, executive producer and creator of But Why: A Podcast For Curious Kids. In addition to her work on our international kids show, she produces special projects for Vermont Public.
