We're talking about how education works in Vermont, and how it might change.

Across the state on Town Meeting Day last week, voters signed off on - or rejected - their local school budgets. We're looking at the level of education spending in Vermont, and where that money goes.

We'll talk about what the state spends on education, what the biggest cost drivers are, and how the funding system might change.

We're joined by Senator Joe Benning, a Republican representing Caledonia county and a member of the Senate education committee. Also with us are Krista Huling, interim chair of the State Board of Education, annd Nicole Mace, executive director of the Vermont School Boards Association.

Broadcast live on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 12 noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.

Jane Lindholm is the host, executive producer and creator of But Why: A Podcast For Curious Kids.
