Making A Case For Science When Trust Is In Short Supply

We're talking about how to make a case for the value of science in an increasingly politicized and divisive national conversation.

Is our country losing faith in science? Can scientists stick up for the value of the scientific method — and its place in society — without being sucked into politicized debate and partisan squabbles?

We're talking about how science professionals can respond to an atmosphere of eroding public trust, and how they can best make a case for the value of their work to a skeptical world.

We're joined by John LLoyd, director of science at the Vermont Center for Ecostudies. Also by Dr. Debra Leonard, chair of the department of pathology and laboratory medicine at the University of Vermont's College of Medicine.

We'll also hear from UVM bee expert Leif Richardson on the latest on the rusty-patched bumblebee, which has landed at the center of a political battle over its endangered status.

Plus: two star sibling skiiers from St. Michael's College: Meggane and Guillaume Grand.

Broadcast live on Monday, Feb. 20 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
