'All-Payer' Health Care On The Way: What Is It?

Vermont has a tentative okay from the Obama administration to move forward with a so-called "all-payer" health care system. We're talking about how such a system would work, and what it would mean for the state.

In the near future, the Green Mountain Care Board is expected to vote on a dramatic change in the way that health care providers are reimbursed, to reward quality of care, and not the quantity of services that are provided.

We’re talking about the all-payer model for health care funding, what it means, and what the implications of the switch could be.

We're joined by Green Mountain  Care Board chairman Al Gobeille. Also by Paul Harrington, executive vice president of the Vermont Medical Society; Julia Shaw, health care policy analyst at Vermont Legal Aid's Office of the Health Care Advocate; and Dr. Paul Reiss; chief medical officer at HealthFirst, Vermont's independent practice association.

Broadcast live on Monday, October 17, 2016 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.

Bob Kinzel has been covering the Vermont Statehouse since 1981 — longer than any continuously serving member of the Legislature. With his wealth of institutional knowledge, he answers your questions on our series, "Ask Bob."
