Even as it's under construction, the natural gas pipeline in Addison County continues to draw criticism for its price tag and environmental impact. Monday on Vermont Edition, we talk with Don Rendall, the president and CEO of Vermont Gas, and with one of the pipeline’s top critics, AARP Vermont State Director Greg Marchildon.
AARP argues that the project’s cost overruns make the pipeline a bad deal for ratepayers and illustrate the need for regulatory changes. Vermont Gas Systems says the pipeline answers demand for natural gas in the western part of the state, and will be an economic benefit to Addison County.
We also take your questions for Rendall on the environmental issues and property concerns that remain controversial in the pipeline’s construction.
