If you stopped by the Hilton in Burlington at the end of April, you might have thought you had accidently wandered into a speed-dating event. But instead of pairing people, the Vermont Food Matchmaker event pairs food producers and retailers to kindle business relationships.
"The hookups at the Hilton were all about trying to peddle kale chips, chocolate sauce, yogurt, mustard greens and maple syrup," said Sally Pollak, contributor to the Savorvore Section of the Burlington Free Press. "Times have changed when speed dating is down to farmers selling to retailers."
The retailers at the Vermont Retail and Grocers Association Convention and Expo ranged from local stores, co-ops and schools to big chain stores, like Costco.
