Late Mardi Gras and Many Great Songs

Shivering our way into March with a look ahead to the Mardi Gras Parade in Burlington (only a few weeks after Fat Tuesday) and a collection of classic songs and singers.

This program will air on Sunday February 28th from 7 - 10 p.m.

This week's calendar announcements:

The Too Tall String Band will be playing at the Palmer Street Coffeehouse in Plattsburgh on Friday March 4th at 7:30 p.m.  Doors open at 7.

Amy Dixon-Kolar will be live in concert at the Deborah Rawson Library in Jericho on Sunday March 6th at  2 p.m. 

There will be a family contra dance with live traditional music provided by Kenric Kite and friends on Sunday March 6th from 3 – 4:30 p.m. at the Plainfield Town Hall.  Liz Benjamin is the caller.

Kate Taylor will be perform at the Cafe Lena in Saratoga Springs on Friday March 4th at 8 p.m.

On Saturday March 5th, the Whallonsburg, NY Grange Hall will present a concert by the Burlington-based quintet, PossumHaw. Music begins at 7:30 p.m.

Acoustic folk duo Connor Garvey and Sorcha Cribben-Merrill will be in concert at the Ripton Community Coffee House. Saturday, March 5th at 7:30 p.m.

The VT Cajun band Yankee Chank will be playing at the Music Box in Craftsbury on Saturdy March 5th at 7:30 p.m.

Red Baraat will be playing at ArtsRiot in Burlington on Saturday March 5th.

Jim Rooney will be performing at Bagitos in Montpelier with Colin McCaffrey on Thursday March 3rd from 6 – 8 p.m.

Wooden Dinosaur will perform on Friday, March 4th at 8:00 p.m. at the Fountain Arts Building on the Dublin School campus in Dublin, NH.

The Monadnock Folklore Society presents the Peterborough First Saturday Contra Dance on March 5th, featuring Lisa Greenleaf calling with the band Notorious.  Dancing begins at 8 p.m. The dance takes place in the historic Town House in Peterborough, NH at 1 Grove Street. The dance also hosts a free jam session for beginning and intermediate musicians at 6:30 p.m. and a workshop for new dancers at 7:30.

Dave Keller will play a solo show at Axel’s Frame Shop in Waterbury on Friday March 4th and at Sweet Melissa’s on Saturday March 5th.

Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn will perform on the Flynn mainstage in Burlington on Friday March 4th.

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
