Faceoff: Hockey In Vermont

Ric Cengeri
/
VPR
Pond hockey is just one of the ways Vermonters enjoy the sport.

Vermonters are rabid about winter sports and hockey is high on that list. We've got great college programs as well as junior, women's and even sled hockey.

So we lace up the skates, drop the gloves and talk hockey in Vermont with former Burlington Free Press Sports Editor Ted Ryan, Vermont Lumberjacks Coach Doc DelCastillo, Vermont Shamrocks Coach Pat Burke, Vermont Sled Cats player Patrick Standen and Montreal Canadiens superfan Don McDowell to learn what's happening on the frozen pond here.

Also on the program, another installment of Dorothy's List. VPR's Amy Noyes takes us to Chester where seventh-graders at Green Mountain Union have been reading the novel "Unfriended" written by New York author Rachel Vail.

Broadcast live on Monday, December 7, 2015 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.

Ric was a producer for Vermont Edition and host of the VPR Cafe.
