Taking your cooking up a notch during the holiday season can be tempting, but doing so often leaves stuck in the kitchen, instead of enjoying the company of your guests.

“Basically, don’t make things over complicated,” said Melissa Pasanen, a contributor to the Savorvore Section of the Burlington Free Press. “Stick to three or four [foods] and make them simple…You’re allowed to do short cuts, just make sure you do them with good ingredients.”

After picking a couple of simple appetizers, Pasanen says find a few nice wines that complement the food.

Find out more about food and wine pairings in Pasanen’s full piece, "Pros offer tips on throwing a wine and appetizer party."

The VPR Café is made possible by Otter Creek Kitchenware in downtown Middlebury, offering over 70 lines of kitchenware.
