Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders looks on as New Hampshire Secretary of State Bill Gardner examines the $1,000 filing fee check after signing papers to be on the nation's earliest presidential primary ballot.

In May, Sen. Bernie Sanders launched his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination and since then the race between Sanders and Hillary Clinton has captured the attention of party faithful in the first two states that will cast votes.

Vermont Edition takes the temperature of Sanders’ presidential campaign in Iowa and New Hampshire with political reporter Josh Rogers of New Hampshire Public Radio and political columnist Kathie Obradovich of the Des Moines Register. And Seven Days political columnist Paul Heintz describes the reaction in South Carolina to Friday's MSNBC Democratic forum.

Also in the program, Homo naledi in the Upper Valley. A cast of a fossil that could reshape our understanding of human evolution is being donated to the Montshire Museum in Norwich. Dartmouth College paleoanthropologist  Jerry DeSilva helped to discover the fossils in South Africa, and joins us to explain.

Broadcast live on Mon., Nov. 9, 2015 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
