Celebrating the 100th anniversary of song catcher and folk music icon Alan Lomax's birth, and also celebrating the launch of a website featuring free access to thousands of sound recordings made by Alan Lomax all over the world during 50 years of collecting (you can explore it yourself at http://research.culturalequity.org/home-audio.jsp) All this and lots of Vermont -made music too!

This program airs on Sunday, November 8th from 7 - 10 p.m.

This week's calendar announcements:

The Essex Children’s Choir of Vermont, with special guests Deb Flanders and Robert Resnik, will be giving a concert at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday November 14th at the McCarthy Arts Center at St. Michael’s College in Colchester.

 
Charlotte diva Francesca Blanchard will be performing at Nectar's in Burlington on Saturday November 14th at 7 p.m.

Next Stage Arts Project presents contemporary folk singer/songwriter Antje Duvekot and the VT newgrass trio The Stockwell Brothers on Saturday, November 14th at 8 p.m. at The Windham Ballroom at 40 The Square in downtown Bellows Falls.

Americana singer/songwriter Mary Gauthier will be in concert on Thursday, November 12th at 7:30 p.m. at the Tunbridge Town Hall

Katie Trautz will be performing solo at the Whammy Bar in Calais on Friday November 13th at 7:30 p.m.

There will be a Contra Dance at the Tunbridge Town Hall on Friday November 13th .  All dances are taught and new dancers are always welcome.  Dancing begins at 7:30 p.m., and there will be refreshments at intermission. 

Vermont bluesman Scott Ainslie will be performing for the Burnham Music Series at Burnham Hall in Lincoln on Saturday November 14th  at 7:30 p.m. 

The Michele Fay Band will be performing at The Music Box in Craftsbury  on Saturday, November 14th  at 7:30 p.m.

The Suitcase Junket with Mal Devisa and Dietrich Strause will be performing at the Signal Kitchen in Burlington on Saturday November 14th at 8:40 p.m.

Donna the Buffalo and Peter Rowan with special guest Ben Cohen will be performing at the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in Stowe on Sunday November 15thin a concert   and program entitled “United to Stamp $ Out of Politics”. The show begins at 7 p.m.

Mavis Staples and Joan Osborne will appear in concert at the Lyndon Institute in St. Johnsbury on Wednesday November 11th at 7 p.m.

The Social Band continues their autumn concert tour with shows this week at the United Church of Hinesburg on Saturday November 14th at 7:30 p.m. and at the Charlotte Congregational Church on Sunday November 15th at 3 p.m.

Nick Cowles and the Meat Packers will perform at the Bar Antidote in Vergennes on Saturday November 14th at 7:30 p.m.

John Specker and his daughter Ida Mae will heat up the Andover, VT, Town Hall once again with a Concert of Traditional American Fiddle and Banjo Music, Sunday, November 15th, from 2-4 p.m. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Dom Flemons of the Carolina Chocolate Drops performs on Chandler Music Hall’s main stage in Randolph on Saturday November 14th at 7:30 p.m. 

The “Last Waltz” Contradance with Northern Spy will be held at Tracy Hall in Norwich on Saturday November 14th.  David Millstone will be calling. The evening includes a potluck supper at 6 p.m. and the contradance at 7:30. 

The DuPont Brothers will perform at Brandon Music on Saturday November 14th. 

Herdman, Hills, and Mangsen will be performing at Old Songs in Voorheesville, NY on Friday November 13th at 8 p.m.
 

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
