We celebrate the anniversary of All the Traditions first broadcast in 1996 with a festival of live-in-the-studio performances that we have hosted over the years, and, fittingly, with a huge list of great live shows happening this week in the VPR listening area.

This program will air on Sunday October 18th from 7 - 10 p.m.

This week's calendar announcements:

On Saturday, October 24th the Upper Valley Music Center in Lebanon, NH presents a  “Mandolin, Fiddle & Guitar Extravaganza!” with Fiddler Lissa Schneckenburger, Mandolinist Glen Loper and Guitarist Bethany Waickman teaming up to teach and play. There will be a fam session at Salt Hill in the morning; two workshops in the afternoon at UVMC and a concert at UVMC at 7:30 pm.
Lissa will also be playing at first concert of the Raise the Roof concert series at the Gethsemane Church in Proctorsville on Sunday October 25th  when world class fiddler Lissa Schneckenburger will be joined by  Maine fiddler Greg Boardman and guitarist Bethany Waickman for a late fall afternoon of music from New England and the British Isles. 

A program entitled Beethoven and Banjos featuring the band Red Tail Ring and local folk and classical musicians, will be held on Friday October 23rd at 7:30 at the Green Mtn. Girls School in Northfield, on Saturday October 24th at the Capital City Grange in Montpelier, also at 7:30, and on Sunday October 25th at 4 p.m. at the Warren United Church.

Petit Campus, located at 57 Prince Arthur East in Montreal presents Old Man Luedecke with the Lowest Pair on Wednesday October 21st. Doors open at 7:30, and music begins at 8 p.m.

Susan Werner will be performing at the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in Stowe on Saturday October 24th at 7:30 p.m. 

There will be a harvest moon contradance with live music by Cuckoo's Nest on Saturday, October 24th at Tracy Hall in Norwich. Ricky Holt calls, and the dance is sponsored by Muskeg Music.
Walkthrough for new dancers is at 7:30 p.m., and dance begins at 8 p.m.

The Rusty Nail in Stowe presents the Aerolites and the Eames Brothers Band on Saturday October 24th. 

Brian Peters (UK) and Jeff Davis (USA) have been performing together on both sides of the Atlantic on and off for sixteen years. On Sunday, October 25th they will perform an evening of traditional songs and music from England and the USA at the Nelson Town Hall at 7 p.m.

Don McLean and his five-piece band will perform at The Barre Opera House on Friday, October 23rd at 8 p.m. as part of the 2015-16 TD Bank Celebration Series.

PossumHaw will perform at the Music Box in Craftsbury on Saturday October 24th at 7:30 p.m.

The Alejandro Ziegler Tango Quartet will perform on Friday October 23rd at the Shelburne Town Hall. The evening will feature a concert and live music for dancing.

The Paramount Theatre is proud to announce the second show in its new series - the 802 VT Music Showcase, featuring bands from across the state of Vermont on the Main Stage. The show will take place on Thursday, October 22nd at the Paramount Theatre Street in downtown Rutland. Doors will open at 7 p.m. with the show at 7:30 p.m. Featured bands are: Waylon Speed from Burlington, Duane Carleton - with his new band DC3 from Rutland, and Ida Mae Specker with special guest Faith Wood from Andover.

Dan Berggren will be celebrating his 30th year of performing at the Café Lena on Sunday October 25th at 7 p.m.  Lena’s will also present Aztec Two Step on Friday October 23rd.

Cumbancha Records presents Daby Toure at Theatre Fairmount in Montreal on Friday October 23rd.

Woodchuck’s Revenge will be at the Rutland Farmers Market on Saturday October 24th at 10 a.m.

Old Songs in Voorheesville, NY presents Sparky and Rhonda Rucker on Saturday October 24th at 8 p.m. 

 
Nashville songwriter Matthew Holcombe will be at the Good Times Cafe in Hinesburg on Sunday October 25th.

 

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
