From Jelly Roll Morton to Grandmaster Flash, we celebrate Black History Month with some of the world's greatest musicians and composers!

This week's calendar announcements:

The Vermont band the Hillside Rounders will play at the El Dorado Tavern in Jeffersonville on Saturday February 21st at 9 p.m. 

Alan Greenleaf and the Doctor will be appearing at the Bees Knees in Morrisville on Sunday, February 22nd at 7 p.m.

The Rusty Nail in Stowe presents Jamie Lee Thurston with special guests Jimmy “T” Thurston and “Uncle” Mike Woodard on Friday February 20th 

Rick Ceballos and Matt Witten will perform at The New City Galerie on Church St. in Burlington on Sunday February 22nd  at 7 p.m.

Next Stage Arts Project and Twilight Music present indie/folk/rock quintet Winterpills, plus Roots-Rock/Junk-Folk trio Rusty Belle at Next Stage in Putney on Saturday, February 21st at 7:30 p.m.  Winterpills will also be performing at the Café Lena in Saratoga Springs on Friday February 20th at 8 p.m.

On Friday, February 20th at 8 p.m. the Monadnock Folklore Society presents the Rodney Miller Trio in the Nelson, NH Town Hall. The concert of music rooted in tradition and rendered with creative flair features Rodney Miller on fiddle, David Surette on guitar, mandolin and bouzouki, and Gordon Peery on piano. 

February’s  Tinmouth contradance will feature Peter Johnson calling and local favorite band The Plumb Bobs with with Marcos Levy, Mary Barron, Aaron Schneider and Jonathan Czar providing live music.  The dance will be held at the Tinmouth Community Center on Friday February 20th from 8 – 11 p.m.

Josh Brooks will be the featured performer at the Wood, Wire and Voice Acoustic Music Series at the Plattsburgh United Methodist Church in Plattsburgh, NY on Friday, February 20th.  Doors open at 6:30, show starts at 7 p.m.

The DuPont Brothers will perform at Brandon Music, 62 Country Club Road in Brandon  on Saturday February 21st at 7:30 p.m.

Singer, conductor, and teacher Kerry Ryer-Parke returns to the Meetinghouse Café on Sunday, February 22nd. She will be joined by Greg Clarke, John Kirk and Peter King. The concert will be at 3 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Bennington, located at 108 School St.

The Chandler Music Hall in Randolph presents  Natalie MacMaster & Donnell Leahy on Tuesday February 17th at 7:30 pm.

The Sierra Leone Refugee All-Stars will perform at the Woodstock Town Hall Theater on Friday February 20th at 7:30 p.m.

Robert Resnik was the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, from 1996 to 2025. He was the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and was the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
