Last year on Town Meeting Day over 30 towns voted down their school's budgets. Is that a problem at the town level or the state level? The number of students in Vermont's schools is projected to continue declining, so are the number of taxpayers. And yet property taxes keep going up.
Changing Vermont's complicated educational funding formula is likely to be high on the list for legislators this year. We'll talk to Rebecca Holcombe, Secretary of the Agency of Education, about what she'd like to see from the legislature this year. We'll also ask her about the new Common Core standards, school district consolidation, and leadership turnover.
Also on the show, we'll learn about a contest that will give home brewers a chance to sell their beer to the public.
Broadcast live on Wednesday, January 14 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
