A New Year's Festival Of Local Musicians

We preview New Year's Eve musical performances all over the VPR listening area, and it's a "localvore" festival -  It's always amazing to explore the huge variety of Vermont-made music!

This program will air on Sunday December 28th from 7 - 10 p.m.

Artists performing at First Night Burlington include Jon Gailmor, Chris Dorman, Kat Wright and her Indomitable Soul Band, Francesca Blanchard, Bluegrass Gospel Project, Paul  Asbell, The Modern Grass Quintet, Rik Palieri, Blackbird, Prydein, Va-et-Vient, Migmar Tsering, Michele Choiniere, Patti Casey and Tom MacKenzie, the Starline Rhythm Boys, Red Hot Juba, the Queen City Hot Club, and Rick Norcross. Eddie Lawrence will perform at the Palmer St. Coffeehouse in Plattsburgh on Friday January 2nd at 7:30 p.m.

The Raise the Roof concert series kicks off 2015 with a melting pot of musical flavors on Sunday January 4th at 4 p.m. when Brendan Taafe and the New Line band perform at the Gethsemane Church in Proctorsville.

Brendan Taafe and the New Line will also be performing in Brattleboro on Saturday January 3rd at 8 p.m. at the Headroom Stages located at 17 Elliot Street.

The Ripton Community Coffeehouse presents Rani Arbo and Greg Ryan on Saturday, January 3rd . The fabulous open mic begins at 7:30 p.m., followed by the featured performers.

Young Tradition Vermont will bring in the New Year with two concerts on January 2 and 3 at the FlynnSpace in Burlington. On Friday January 2nd young and upcoming singer-songwriters will be featured, including Chris Dorman and Cricket Blue, and on Saturday January 3rd the accent will be on bands that play primarily instrumentals, including the Irregulars and Les Poules a Colin. Doors open both nights at 6:30 p.m.

Jeremiah McLane and Timothy Cummings will be performing at the Music Box in Craftsbury on Saturday January 3rd at 7:30 p.m.

There will be a new years eve contradance with Cuckoo’s Nest at Tracy Hall in Norwich on Wednesday December 31st. Dancing begins at 8 p.m. with a walk-through for new dancers at 7:45.

Montpelier-based soul and blues singer/guitarist Dave Keller is hosting a community New Year’s Eve Extravaganza at Montpelier City Hall on New Year’s Eve. The evening will start at 7:30 p.m. and will feature dancing to The Dave Keller Band and The Starline Rhythm Boys, plus special surprise musical guests.

Robert Resnik was the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, from 1996 to 2025. He was the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and was the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
