Dreaming Of Divas Past And Present

Thinking about Lhasa de Sela, a brilliant singer from Montreal who lost her life to cancer at age 37, and also some other fabulous world music divas (Irene Farrera, Luisa Maita, and Leyla McCalla) who are thankfully still alive!

This program will air on Sunday, December 7th from 7 - 10 p.m.

This week's calendar announcements:

Vermont bluesman Dave Keller will be performing solo at the Whammy Bar in Calais on Thursday December 11th at 7 p.m.

There will be a contradance with Northern Spy at Tracy Hall in Norwich on Saturday December 13th .  David Millstone is the caller, dancing begins at 8 p.m. with an introduction for new dancers at 7:45.

Keith Murphy will hold a CD release house concert in Shelburne on Friday December 12th at 6 p.m. Call 802 985-1124 for information and reservations. The concert will be held at 338 Thompson Rd. in Shelburne.

The Café Lena in Saratoga Springs presents Dan Berggren and Ed Lowman on Sunday December 14th at 7 p.m.

On Saturday December 13th Frost and Fire will perform at Burnham Hall in Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7.

The band Darlingside will perform in Richmond as part of the PM Sundays concert series on Sunday December 14th at 4 p.m.

Vermont songwriter Francesca Blanchard will be playing at the South End Kitchen in Burlington on Friday December 12th at 7 p.m.

Old Songs presents Nowell Sing We Clear and their Mid-Winter Pageant of Carols on Saturday, December 13th  at 3 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Altamont, NY.

Jeremiah McLane & Timothy Cummings will be performing at the New City Galerie in Burlington on Sunday December 14th at 6:30 p.m. 

The Good Times Café in Hinesburg presents Dwight and Nicole on Friday and Saturday December 12th & 13th at 8:30 p.m.

There will be a benefit concert at Bethany Church in Montpelier on Saturday December 13th at 7:30 p.m. with Spencer Lewis and soprano Patti Ackley-Warlick with all proceeds going to their friend Rosemary Phelan (a Canadian songwriter and author) who is recovering from cancer treatment.  

On Saturday, December 13th Anything Goes, featuring Mark Greenberg and Ben Koenig, will perform at the Adamant Methodist Church. The music will start at 7 p.m. with an optional potluck starting at 5:30 before the show.

Anne Hills and Michael Smith will be performing at the Whallonsburg, NY grange hall on Saturday December 13th at 7 p.m.

Shtreiml with Ismail Fenciolgu will be playing Jewish Roots and Turkish Blues music at the North End Studio in Burlington on 
Thursday December 11th at 8 p.m.

The Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in Stowe presents An Irish Christmas in America on Saturday December 13th at 7 p.m.

 

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
