Summer Festivals and Village Green Concerts Galore!

Quebecois music masters Le Vent du Nord, one of the featured performers at this year's Middlebury Festival Off the Green.

At the very height of summer music festival season, we preview the Middlebury Festival Off the Green, French Heritage Day in Vergennes, and the Green River Festival in Greenfield, MA, as well as many outdoor concerts all around the VPR listening area!

This week's calendar announcements:

Gordon Lightfoot will perform on the Flynn Mainstage in Burlington on Sat. July 12th.

The Vermont band Chickweed will perform at the Lyndonville Farmer’s Market on Fri. July 11th from 3:00-6:00 p.m.

Alan Greenleaf and the Doctor will be giving a concert at the West Fairlee music series at the West Fairlee Community Church,Fri. July 11th at 7:30 p.m., then at the Antiques and Uniques Fair at Craftsbury Common on Sat. July 12th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and then at the Littleton Farmers Market on Sun. July 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Middlebury Festival off the Green will be happening at their new temporary home at the Middlebury Recreation Park, beginning today and continuing through July 12th. Featured performers include Le Vent du Nord, Anais Mitchell, The Stray Birds, Josh Panda, Chris Dorman, and many more.

The 20th Annual Quebec Sacred Harp Convention will be Fri. July 11th from 7:30 - 9:30 pm, at BCS Chapel in Lennoxville, Quebec, and on Sat.July 12th from 10:30-4:30, at the Community Hall, Ways Mills, Quebec. All are welcome, no experience is necessary.

There will be a Montpelier Square Dance with Kick ‘Em Jenny playing and Jenny Montfore calling on Thurs. July 10th from 7-10:00 p.m. at the The American Legion Post 3 in Montpelier.

The Michele Fay Band will be performing on Thurs. July 10th  at noon in the Pocket Park at 64 State St. in Montpelier, and at Two Brothers Tavern in Middlebury on Fri. July 11th from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m.  Both events are free.

The Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in Stowe presents Patti Casey & Colin McCaffrey Sat. July 12th at 8:00 p.m.

Dave Keller will be performing solo in City Hall Park in Burlington at noon on Fri. July 11th and at Moog’s Place in Morrisville on the same day with his full band at 9:00 p.m.

Rick Norcross and his Ramblers will perform  Thurs. July 10th at the Family RV Campers Convention at the Champlain Valley Fairgrounds in Essex Junction at 7:00 p.m.

The Addison County Chamber of Commerce is hosting French Heritage Day on Sat. July 12th in Vergennes. Featured musical performers include Va et Vient, DejaNous, and many more.

Woodchuck’s Revenge will perform on Thurs. July 10th at 6:00 p.m. as paart of the River Road Recreation Department Series in Killington, and on Sat. July 12th at a village green concert in Jay, NY at 6:30 p.m.

Lewis Franco and the Brown Eyed Girls will perform at the Whammy Bar in Maple Corners on Fri. July 11th at 7:00 p.m.

The Swing Peepers will perform Tues.July 15th at 2:00 p.m. at the Brownell Library’s annual Teddy Bear Picnic at the Essex Jct. Recreation Park, and later that same day at the Plainfield Library at 6:30 p.m.

Okemo’s Jackson Gore Inn presents Satin and Steel on Fri. July 11th.

The Colonial Theater in Bethlehem, NH presents Eileen Ivers & Immigrant Soul Fri. July 11th .

The Westford Summer Concert Series on the Common presents the Starline Rhythm Boys on Sun. July 13th

The Green River Festival in Greenfield, MA is happening on Sat. July 12th beginning at noon. Featured performers include The Deadly Gentlemen, Trombone Shorty, Dave Alvin & Phil Alvin with The Guilty Ones, James Hunter, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Syd Straw, and many many more.

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
