The Winter Olympics have a special sway in our region, and our affinity for snow sports is only part of the reason. Dozens of athletes with ties to Vermont are competing in Sochi, Russia, including a few who are medal contenders. Monday on Vermont Edition, sports contributor Andy Gardiner reviews how Vermont competitors performed in the weekend events and we share in the excitement of the competition still to come.

And, we hit the sliding track in Lake Placid where professionals, Olympic hopefuls and tourists learn to bobsled. VPR's Sage Van Wing reports from the Mount Van Hoevenberg Olympic Complex that was host to the 1980 Winter Games.
