Appreciating Pete Seeger

We take on the daunting task of honoring one of the greats of American folk music.  Pete Seeger traveled a long road, and taught millions how to play the 5-string banjo, and to sing along!

This week's calendar announcements:

George Wilson and David Kaynor will team up for a concert of fiddle tunes on Friday, Feb. 7  at the Montpelier Senior Activity Center 58 Barre St. in Montpelier.  Concert time: 7:30 p.m.

Bagitos in Montpelier presents Colin McCaffrey and Bob Amos on Thursday Feb. 8 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., followed by Myra Flynn from 8:00-10:00 p.m.  

Charlie Messing will host the evening and perform at the Monkey House in Winooski on Monday Feb. 3.

The Phil Henry Trio will be performing for the Burnham Music Series at Burnham Hall in Lincoln on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Feb. 8  Young Tradition Vermont and Burlington Parks and Recreation will welcome a variety of young players, singers and dancers who will perform with their teachers, parents and/or mentors.  The Young Tradition Showcase will be held at Contois Auditorium in Burlington’s City Hall starting at 7:00 p.m.  Featured performers include Sarah Blair, Timothy Cummings, Dominique Dodge, Sarah Hotchkiss,  Benedict Koehler, Jeremiah McLane, Mark Sustic, Pete Sutherland, Beth Telford, and more!

Ruthie Foster & Eric Bibb will perform at the Chandler Music Hall in Randolph on  Friday Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Young Tradition Vermont presents Dirk Powell & Riley Baugus on Friday Feb. 7  at Main St. Landing in Burlington at  7:00 p.m.

On Saturday, Feb. 8, Mark LeGrand, Sarah Munro, & Spencer Lewis perform at the Adamant Community Club. The music will start at 7:00 p.m. with an optional potluck starting at 5:30 before the show.

Big Spike Bluegrass Returns to Palmer Street Coffeehouse on Friday, Feb. 7th  at 7:30 p.m.

Brown’s Market Bistro in  Groton  presents Dave Keller in a solo performance on Thursday Feb. 6th at 6:30 p.m.

PossumHaw will perform as part of the Rutland UU Coffeehouse Concert Series on Saturday Feb 8 at the UU Church, 117 West Street in Rutland at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday Feb. 9 at the United Church of Westford on the Common in Westford at 4:00 p.m.

Singer songwriter Tret Fure will perform at Bennington’s Meetinghouse Café on Friday, Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m.

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
