Winter Camping

Most people think of camping as something you get to do only in the height of summer. But some hardy outdoors-folk love like to take their tents deep into the woods in wintertime. Do you prefer the cold and silence of winter camping? Leave your comment below or email vermontedition@vpr.net.

We'll learn more about the technique, knowlege, and equipment needed for safe camping in the wintertime with Tim Jones, Editior of EasternSlopes.com, and Pete Antos-Ketcham, Director of Land and Facilities Management for the Green Mountain Club.

We’ll also talk with Katie Sedore - she teaches English at Spaulding High School in Barre and last Friday she got a very nice surprise -  at a school wide assembly she found out she was the winner of a 25-thousand dollar Milken Education Award.

Also, we’ll stop in at a fancy cat show… coming up - on Vermont Edition.

One in five Vermonters is considered elderly. But what does being elderly even mean — and what do Vermonters need to know as they age? I’m looking into how aging in Vermont impacts living essentials such as jobs, health care and housing. And also how aging impacts the stuff of life: marriage, loss, dating and sex.
