Oh Canada !

In honor of the winners of the Canadian Folk Music Awards this week (and for all the excellent music that comes out of Canada all the time) we get to enjoy lots of it this week, as well as exploring what seems to be an ever-increasing number of Sunday afternoon concerts in the VPR listening area !

This week's calendar announcements:

The Stray Birds will perform at the Café Lena in Saratoga Springs on Thursday November 21st at 7:00pm

The Claire Lynch Band and double banjo bluegrass quartet Hot Mustard will perform on Friday, November 22nd  at 7:30 pm at Next Stage, 15 Kimball Hill in downtown Putney.

The Whallonsburg Grange Hall will present the final concert in its Fall performance series on Sunday, November 24 at 7pm with The Honey Dewdrops.

The "P.M. Sundays" music series continues on Sunday Nov. 24th with
Darol Anger/Joe Walsh and Friends at the Richmond Library.  Music begins at 4:00pm

Long Time Courting will be playing a house concert in Braintree, VT on Sunday November 24th – for information or reservations please call 802 728-6251

The Brattleboro Women's Chorus 18th Annual Fall Concerts feature songs about light from around the world Directed by Becky Graber

The Summit School of Traditional Music and Culture presents a benefit square dance and pie sale on Friday November 22nd at the Montpelier Grange Hall, 7pm

Vermont bluesman Chris Kleeman will perform at ArtsRiot on Pine St. in Burlington on Tuesday November 19th at 8:00pm – doors open at 7:30.

Hugh McBride and Mike Lussen will perform at On the Rise Bakery in Richmond on Friday November 22nd at 7:30pm

There will be a DanceFlurry Saratoga Contradance on Saturday, November 23 from 8:00-11:00 PM (lesson for beginners at 7:30)  Calling by Melanie Axel-Lute with music by George Wilson and Selma Kaplan.  All group dances taught, newcomers welcome. Great Big Sea Returns to the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center Tuesday, November 19th at 7:30pm

Vermont bluesman Dave Keller will hold a CD release party on Thursday November 21st at the Tupelo Music Hall (White River Junction) at 7:30pm

Mark Erelli will perform at Casa Popolo in Bellows Falls on Sunday November 24th at noon.

Woodchucks' Revenge will perform at the Bees Knees in Morrisville on Saturday, November 23rd from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Anoushka Shankar will peform on the Flynn Mainstage in Burlington on Thursday November 21st

David Francey will perform in Montreal on Wednesday, November 20th at
Petit Campus (57 Prince Arthur Street East) - Doors: 7:30pm - Show: 8 pm

The UVM Lane Series presents Mary Jane Lamond and Wendy MacIsaac on Friday November 22nd at the UVM Recital Hall in Burlington.

The Panache Quartet, comprised of Cape Breton fiddler Andrea Beaton, Franco-American fiddler Donna Hébert, Southern style fiddler Jane Rothfield and Québecois fiddler Véronique Plasse will perform at the Gethsemane Church on Depot Street in Proctorsville. The concert will be held on Sunday, November 24th at 4:00pm

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
