Vermont Public Radio will make changes to its program schedule beginning the week of August 12, adding popular programs The Takeaway and Hidden Brain, as well as a rebroadcast of Fresh Air
The Takeaway
Rejoining the VPR schedule on weekday afternoons, The Takeaway bills itself as “America’s weekday conversation.” Each episode faces national issues head on, providing nuanced perspectives and featuring conversations with people from all backgrounds. Host Tanzina Vega brings depth and diversity through conversation and doesn’t shy away from tough topics. The Takeaway is a production of WNYC Studios and Public Radio International (PRI).

The Takeaway will air Monday-Thursday at 2 p.m.

Hidden Brain
Hidden Brain is a program and podcast from NPR. Using science and storytelling that links psychology and neurobiology research with economics, anthropology and sociology, Host Shankar Vedantam guides curious people to understand the unconscious patterns that drive human behavior. Questions include how children come to love spicy foods, why religions exist and what's the best way to get people to be honest on their taxes? Hidden Brain began as a popular weekly series on Morning Edition

Hidden Brain will air Saturdays at noon and Sundays at 10 p.m.

Fresh Air
For more than 30 years, Fresh Air has provided intelligent, thought-provoking interviews to the audiences from the worlds of literature, film, economics and beyond. This Peabody Award-winning weekday magazine is hosted by Terry Gross and produced by WHYY-FM in Philadelphia.

Fresh Air will continue to air at 3 p.m. on weekdays, with an additional opportunity to hear the show in the evening, Monday-Thursday at 9 p.m. The programs that previously aired 9 p.m. — The Moth Radio Hour, TED Radio Hour, Reveal and Next New England — move to 8 p.m.

This American Life
VPR will add a rebroadcast of This American Life on Thursdays at 10 p.m.

“VPR’s goal is to provide the best possible public service to Vermonters through both our local and national programming,” said Program Director Kari Anderson. “Audience feedback and listening habits always inform our schedule choices, and these changes reflect our commitment to programming that is inclusive, essential and memorable.”
