The memorial plaza at the World Trade Center site on Sept. 12, 2011, the first day it was open to the public 10 years after the terrorist attack. The events of 9/11 affected people in many different ways. This fall, VPR will share stories of how Vermonters experienced and were changed by 9/11.

The events of 9/11 unfolded nearly 20 years ago. Almost everyone who is old enough remembers where they were when they heard the news, and can recall what it felt like to live through the aftermath. But for some of us, 9/11 changed the trajectory of our lives — in ways both large and small.

Our submission form is now closed. Send an email to share@vpr.org if have questions about the project.

We collected nearly 100 stories this summer and are working to share them online and on air in the week leading up to the 20th anniversary. Check back after the first week of September to read, listen to and watch reflections from fellow Vermonters.
