2020 has been … a year. We don’t have to tell you that. A global pandemic, civil unrest and protests against systemic racism and a presidential election. Usually, media outlets mark the end of a year by showcasing some of their best work, but given the 2020-ness of 2020, that didn’t quite feel right. So instead, as we move into 2021, VPR would like to know: “What has brought you solace or a little bit of joy in this incredibly tough year?”
Whether it was something big or small, a new practice or a fleeting moment, we want to hear from you. Maybe you got a pandemic puppy or took up running. Maybe you upgraded your sweatpants or stopped to smell the flowers more. Maybe it’s just that you’re here. Maybe you’re taking the time to grieve what we have lost.
Between now and the end of January, we would like to hear from you. Here’s how:
- Use the voice memo function on your smartphone or give us a call at (802) 778-0914 to leave a short message.
- Start the recording with your name, where you are, and the date.
- Tell us what has brought you some comfort. Get creative: Record any sounds that characterize this moment for you, and tell us why.
- Share your smartphone recordings with us at joy@vpr.org
From all of us at VPR, thank you for trusting us during this tumultuous year. You bring us joy. We, too, are looking forward to brighter days ahead.
VPR reserves the right to condense your submissions for clarity and length, and distribute them across our platforms.
