There is a bill moving through the Vermont Legislature that would create a committee to take a look at the state's parentage laws and try to bring them up to speed with modern realities. Thursday's Vermont Edition looked at how reproductive technology and changing cultural norms are putting pressure on the legal definitions of parenthood.
Guests for this discussion included:
- Kurt Hughes, an attorney at Murdoch, Hughes and Twarog specializing in adoption law, assisted reproductive law and family law
- Dr. Robert Macauley, medical director of clinical ethics at UVM Medical Center
- Dr. Peter Casson, a physician specializing in infertility and assisted reproductive technologies at Northeastern Reproductive Medicine (Disclosure: NRM is a corporate underwriter for VPR)
