Gov. Peter Shumlin's office released more than 5,000 pages of emails that his administration tried to have deleted in April.
The document dump comes after VTDigger reported that the administration wanted to have the emails deleted, which led to public criticism of the governor and callsfor all of the emails in question to be publicly released.
All of the emails are from the accounts of Shumlin administration officials who left the administration more than three years ago. The officials in question are:
- Bill Lofy, chief of staff
- Ariel Wengroff, special assistant to the governor
- Bianca Slota, a press secretary
- Elizabeth Bankowski, Shumlin administration transition lead
- Alex MacLean, secretary of civil and military affairs
Shumlin's office released a "representative sample" for more than 5,000 pages of emails Friday evening. None of the emails in question have to do with the federal EB-5 immigrant investor program, according to Shumlin spokesman Scott Coriell. He says all EB-5 related emails are under a "litigation hold" because of ongoing legal action related to alleged fraud in EB-5-funded projects in the Northeast Kingdom.
